Brototi Roy

Brototi Roy is a PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB). She holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India and a M.Sc. in Economics (with specialization in environment and resource management) from TERI University, New Delhi, India. Her master´s thesis examined shrimp aquaculture in coastal India through the lens of environmental justice and ecologically unequal exchange. She is an elected executive committee member of Indian Society for Ecological Economics (2018-20). She is a member of the academic think-tank Research and Degrowth, and the co-founder of the Degrowth India Initiative. Her thesis focuses on environmental justice movements in India using the lens of political ecology and ecological economics.
