Arnim Scheidel

Arnim Scheidel is an ecological economist who holds a PhD from the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB), Spain. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague, Netherlands. His main research interests are ecological economics, rural change and environmental conflicts, with a particular interest in the political ecology of development in Southeast Asia. Between field work and office time, he loves to play his violin in balkan/gipsy/swing sessions or to hike in the mountains of his home country Austria.
