Bowen Gu

Bowen Gu is a PhD student at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB). Her research looks into coal related environmental justice movements in China and broader regions under the Belt and Road Initiative. She received her undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics from Tsinghua University in China and her master degree from the Erasmus Mundus program in environmental sciences, policy and management (MESPOM). Prior to starting her PhD at ICTA, she worked for multiple years in socially responsible investment (SRI) and most recently worked with a nonprofit organisation in the Netherlands, Access to Medicine Foundation, to help investors (e.g. banks, pension funds, insurance companies) integrate environmental and social issues in their investment.
